A Bit About Me
I’m Nate Mooty, a Warren, Michigan-based Senior Video Editor, Producer, Cinematographer, and Motion Graphics Artist with over 15 years of experience creating story-driven content that connects with audiences and delivers real results. My career began where most great ones do: with a camera, a crew, and an unshakeable drive to bring ideas to life, and that foundational instinct has shaped every frame I’ve cut since.

After graduating from Michigan State University in 2011 with a degree in Media Arts & Technology, I built a filmography spanning 16 projects across horror, sci-fi, action, drama, and comedy. That work includes Harper, a sci-fi short that earned nine film festival selections across events like the Capital City Film Festival, Pittsburgh Independent Film Festival, and Boston Sci-Film Festival, and A Grain of Sand, a feature-length action-comedy that took home first place at the Indie Gathering Film Festival and the ACCOLADE Award of Excellence. I’ve directed music videos for artists including Sisters of Your Sunshine Vapor, Queen Kwong, So Called Ghost, Former Critics, and These Charming Men, and contributed to television productions airing on Oxygen (Preachers of Detroit), TV One (Change Agents: History in the Making), PBS Detroit (Dining in the D), and Fox Sports (Ken Moody Hunting TV). In 2020, I wrote and directed Paintbrush, an unaired pilot series spotlighting Black-owned businesses across Detroit, a project that reflects both my technical range and my commitment to meaningful storytelling.

That foundation carried me directly into the advertising world, where I spent over a decade in some of the industry’s most demanding agency environments. As a Senior Video Editor at Doner Advertising for seven years, I cut national campaigns for tier-one brands, including GM, Ford, McDonald’s, Jeep, and Bush’s Beans, including a Super Bowl commercial delivered under the highest pressure the industry offers. My agency work earned recognition from advertising’s most respected organizations: a Webby Award, a Gold National Addy, multiple D Show wins, including Best in Show, and nominations from both the Clios and Cannes. I then brought that same precision, efficiency, and creative discipline to Sussman Marketing Services. For five years, I contributed to the annual output of over 900 commercials across four major furniture brands while maintaining strong creative standards on every deliverable.

Beyond the agency world, I’ve led video production at the organizational level. As Video Production Lead at EPIC Health Systems, I oversaw end-to-end content creation across five brands, from concept development, scripting, and filming through editing, distribution, and a weekly video podcast, while integrating AI-assisted tools to streamline workflows and improve turnaround times. Earlier in my career, as Director of Video Productions at Trinity Utica Church and School, I led an 11-person production team that delivered multi-camera live streams, promos, and special-event coverage, and launched and mentored a student-run broadcast news program. It was a role that called on the same collaborative instincts I developed on indie film sets, the ability to lead a team, solve problems in real time, and bring out the best in the people around me.

Alongside my full-time roles, I’ve maintained a prolific freelance career spanning over a decade. My independent work includes broadcast TV spots for agencies like Ringside Creative, Cutters, and Spotwelders; political ad editing for Jamestown Associates and SB Media Group; branded content for clients ranging from the Detroit Pistons and Nike to Chevy and the University of Michigan; and ongoing social media editing for the California-based agency GR0, where I produce performance-driven short-form content optimized for Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts. That breadth, from Super Bowl commercials to scrappy indie productions to high-converting social videos, reflects a career built on adaptability, craft, and a genuine love of the work.

I’m fluent in Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Avid Media Composer, DaVinci Resolve, and the full Adobe Creative Cloud suite, with deep proficiency across motion graphics, color correction, sound design, and multi-platform delivery. I stay current with evolving workflows, including AI-assisted editing tools and social-first production strategies. But at the core of everything I do is something no software can replace: the ability to find the strongest story within the footage, refine the tone, and make every single cut count. Whether it’s a national campaign, a Super Bowl spot, or a short-form social video for a local business, my goal is always the same: to create work that connects with people and delivers real results.
