A Bit About Me
ABOUT
I’m a video editor, motion graphics artist, producer, and cinematographer based in the metro Detroit area, with more than 15 years of professional experience across advertising, corporate media, broadcast television, and independent film. My career has taken me from the editing bays of national advertising agencies to the stages of the Michigan independent film festival circuit, and the throughline connecting it all is a belief that the best work, in any format, is always built on story.

I earned my B.A. in Media Arts & Technology from Michigan State University in 2011, and I have been working professionally in this field ever since. What started as a passion for independent filmmaking grew into a craft refined over thousands of hours of agency editing, broadcast production, and client-facing creative work. Today, I bring that full range of experience to every project I take on, whether I’m cutting a Super Bowl spot, producing short-form social content, or directing a multi-camera studio production.
AGENCY CAREER
The core of my professional formation took place at two of Metro Detroit’s most respected advertising agencies. I spent nearly seven years at Doner, one of the country’s premier full-service agencies, where I worked my way from Junior Editor and Assistant Editor up to Senior Video Editor. In that role, I edited national broadcast campaigns for major brands, GM, Ford, McDonald’s, Jeep, Dodge, Ram, Fiat, Alfa Romeo, Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Chrysler, Bush’s Beans, Potbelly, Netflix, Coca-Cola, and more. I also edited two Super Bowl commercials: the Alfa Romeo Giulia “Mozzafiato” broadcast during Super Bowl LI in 2017, and the Fiat “Mirage” spot from Super Bowl XLVIII in 2014, both of which were among the highest-stakes deliverables in the advertising world. I also edited multiple award-winning PSA campaigns.
That work earned some of the industry’s most competitive recognition. A PSA on school shootings, “Bulletproof Kids,” won the Webby Award for Public Service & Activism, the D-Show Award for Best Innovative Marketing, and the D-Show Award for Best of Public Service. A PSA addressing the opioid epidemic, “Know the RX: The Trap of Addiction,” won the Gold National Addy Award. A digital campaign for Potbelly, “Smile Jam,” took D-Show Best in Show. I also received a Cannes nomination during this period. These weren’t just accolades; they were confirmation that editing with intention and craft moves people.
Following Doner, I joined Sussman Marketing Services as Senior Video Editor, where I managed an annual output of more than 900 commercials. That volume sharpened my ability to maintain quality at scale, manage competing deadlines, and collaborate efficiently with creative teams across multiple simultaneous projects.
LEADERSHIP & ORGANIZATIONAL WORK
In addition to agency work, I’ve led video production at the organizational level, which has required me to think beyond the edit. As Video Production Lead at EPIC Health, a multi-brand healthcare organization in metro Detroit, I oversaw end-to-end content creation across five brands through February 2026, managing everything from concept development and scripting through on-location filming, editing, and distribution. I produced a weekly video podcast, repurposed long-form content into social media assets, collaborated with leadership on integrating AI tools into production workflows, and directed on-camera talent while managing multiple concurrent projects under tight deadlines.

Earlier, as Director of Video Production at Trinity Lutheran Church and School in Utica, Michigan, I built and managed an eleven-person production team, configured multi-camera streaming systems, and launched a student-led broadcast news program at the school. Leading a team of that size, coordinating roles, managing creative vision, and delivering consistent output week over week gave me a perspective on production leadership that has informed everything I’ve done since.
FREELANCE & INDEPENDENT WORK
I’ve maintained an active freelance practice throughout my entire career under my production company, Quackers Video Productions. That work has spanned nearly every format: broadcast TV spots, political advertising, branded social content, music videos, documentaries, PSAs, corporate videos, weddings, and event coverage. In recent years, I’ve expanded into wedding and event videography, shooting with a Sony A7V-based professional kit that brings the same technical standard I developed in agency work to independent client productions. I currently edit performance-driven social media content for GR0, a California-based advertising agency, optimizing short-form video for Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts. I also produce and edit for TV Warren, where I direct multi-camera studio productions and cover press conferences, PSAs, and locally aired programming, including events with the Mayor of Warren.

My broader freelance client roster includes post-production agencies Ringside Creative, Cutters Studios, and Spotwelders, where I assisted on national automotive spots for Chevrolet, Ford, Dodge, and Chrysler. I’ve edited political advertising for Jamestown Associates and SB Media Group, produced branded content for clients including the Detroit Pistons, Nike, and the University of Michigan, and created multimedia content for brands like Discover Your Mobility. Earlier in my career, I produced corporate videos for UR-Channel Broadcasting, where I worked alongside the GM, president, vice president, and CEO on scripted and live shoots, and managed e-learning content delivery across three countries.
INDEPENDENT FILM & MUSIC VIDEOS
My roots are in independent filmmaking, and that foundation has never left me. I have 16 short- and feature-film credits through the Michigan independent film festival circuit, including Harper, a 28-minute sci-fi film that earned nine festival selections, including the Capital City Film Festival, Smoky Mountain Film Festival, Pittsburgh Independent Film Festival, and Boston Sci-Fi Film Festival. My debut feature, A Grain of Sand, a 120-minute action-comedy, won first place at the Indie Gathering Film Festival and received the ACCOLADE Award of Excellence. The Condemned, produced for the 48 Hour Film Festival in 2014, swept the competition, earning Best Editing, Best Writing, Best Cinematography, Best Musical Score, and Best Special Effects, along with a 2nd Place Audience Choice Award, and was selected for the Mitten Movie Project that October.

I have also directed seven music videos for a range of artists, including Sisters of Your Sunshine Vapor, Queen Kwong, So Called Ghost, Former Critics, Kevin Covert of Auto Pilot, These Charming Men, and Detroit rapper P. Seize. On the television side, my credits include Preachers of Detroit (Oxygen), Change Agents (TV One), Ken Moody Hunting TV (Fox Sports), Dining in the D (PBS Detroit), and Flavors in the City (TV Warren, 2025), among others.

Independent film taught me things that no agency edit bay can, how to build tension across a sequence, how to let silence do work, how to make an audience feel something with nothing but a cut and a music cue. That sensibility is what I bring to commercial work, and I believe it’s what separates an edit that merely delivers from one that lands.
CRAFT & TECHNICAL SKILLS
My post-production toolkit covers the full spectrum of industry-standard software: Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Avid Media Composer, DaVinci Resolve, and Final Cut Pro for editing and finishing; Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Lightroom for design and graphics work; Camtasia and Adobe Captivate for corporate and e-learning content; and CapCut, Canva, and Figma for social and digital work. I am proficient in motion graphics, 2D and 3D animation, color correction, sound design, audio mixing, VFX compositing, and rotoscoping.
On the production side, I am experienced in cinematography, multi-camera direction, drone operation, lighting, location sound, and teleprompter operation. My primary production camera is the Sony A7V, supported by a full professional kit that includes cinema lenses, a Blackmagic Super 35mm cinema camera, a complete audio system, and a LanParte camera rig. I have run live streams, produced podcasts, and managed large-scale projects from pre-production planning through final delivery. I also bring working knowledge of social media strategy, content marketing, SEO, and digital brand management, skills that have become increasingly essential as the line between content creation and content distribution continues to blur.
PHILOSOPHY
I got into this field because of storytelling, and after 15 years of professional work, it still drives me. I believe that every project, regardless of format or budget, deserves the same fundamental commitment: to find the story, to honor the material, and to make something that connects with the people who watch it. The tools change. The platforms change. The story always matters.

I approach every collaboration with the same professionalism, curiosity, and creative investment I brought to my first film and my first agency spot. If you’re looking for a video professional who combines agency-level discipline with an independent filmmaker’s instinct for story, I’d love to talk about what we can make together.
